The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Africa Region President, Nillian Mulemi recently welcomed participants to the AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW) in Windhoek.
In her opening remarks, Mulemi highlighted the work of the AAPG Africa Region and underscored the significance of the workshop, particularly in light of the major onshore and offshore hydrocarbon discoveries in Namibia.
The two-day workshop was being held under the theme, “Finding New Elephants: New Insights from Hydrocarbon Exploration Along the Southern African Margin and Onshore.”
The workshop was aimed at exploring key developments in hydrocarbon exploration, including the intensive drilling campaigns conducted offshore Namibia, which have led to multiple discoveries, opened new deep-water plays and provided valuable insights into the petroleum systems of the Southern African Margin.
Discussions further focused on updates relating to deep-water plays, current geological understanding and the future exploration potential of the South Atlantic Margin.
More than 100 geoscientists and industry delegates from around the world are participating in the workshop.
